AGT Book Library

Following a query on donations of Garden History Books, Avon Gardens Trust have created a loan library based at the Create Centre in Bristol

Books may be borrowed by prior arrangement for any length of time. The aim is to develop this library in order that researchers and interested parties may browse books that would normally be an expensive purchase – or out of print.

A full list of publications available can be viewed AGT Book Library

The offer is available to members of Avon Gardens Trust, our neighbouring County Garden Trusts and local Garden Trust Members.

The rules for loan of a book are as follows:

  • Books are held at our registered office in the Create Centre, Smeaton Road, Bristol BS1 6XN [This office is not manned so prebooking for collection is essential].
  • Books are available to any member of Avon Gardens Trust, Somerset Gardens Trust, Gloucestershire Garden and Landscape Trust, Wiltshire Gardens Trust and The Gardens Trust.
  • Pre notification and request of loan is required through the email – [email protected]
  • From that email, arrangements will be made for an AGT Committee member to set the book aside
  • Name and contact details of the loanee is required to borrow any book.
  • Books must be collected, or the loanee pre-pays postage.
  • Return of books is by the means above.
  • There is no restriction to length of time for a book loan.

We are thankful to Lyn Jacobs and David Evans who have started this library by way of book donations.

If any member has Garden History Books that they wish to donate we would be pleased to accept them – hopefully avoiding any duplication of titles. Contact me at

[email protected] if you have donations.
